Freedom

Freedom is when you are not your experiences or stories anymore. When they are not a ware to be peddled, a bid for connection, a cry for reward or recognition for one's struggles of the past. Freedom from the emotional attachment of self to memories. When the emotional perception of the self having been hurt, scars or healing all these definitions go... you reach a point where you cannot relate to a label. Any label. You play the roles you need to but they are not your identity props. You realise that all the goals, aspirations, plans, worry, security ... all of these look silly. Achievements seem meaningless and actually everything looks like it has no real purpose or meaning. This is the exact point of birth. The point of detachment from the secure sense of the world's definition to a nameless, identityless, genderless, unattached organism that can die at any given point of time without any warning.

If you have the courage (for the want of a better word) to stay in this free state, while all the push and pull of relationships, experiences, desires and commitments call you, the courage to stay with this loss ( really?) of self almost pushing you over the edge, you come to a point where you are actually free. It is a moment unlike any other. Having no reference to anything you have known or can relate to. For, how can it be free if brings everything along ? And, you can stay in this state of intense pain of separation for as long as it takes. After all, every new born emerges from a unique birth pang.

And, you are like a new born once more. With nothing and no one to guide you. With no purpose other than what you create. With impulses that are only yours. The boundaries are what feels right to you. And, your mortality is yours to own.

The challenge is to reach this point in a parallel existence, while the self that world knows and has created, engages with it, playing every role and responsibility to perfection.

This is duality. That while one watches in stoic amusement, the other performs for the gallery.
