Belonging

With some rare people that we are lucky enough to meet, you already belong. The question of leaving or staying does not arise or matter. You are already an integral, unquestionable fusion of each other as long as you exist and from the time you meet. Each day there is a growing sense of thankfulness, a sense of coming home to the best in you. You can actually relax being truly yourself and in the knowledge that you are accepted. There is a sense of recognition, resonance if you may call it. The integrity of that fusion is not for debate, discussion or dissection. It is genderless, ageless and has no labels. It just is. Mysterious. Beautiful. Awe-inspiring. And, oh so terribly humbling. You know that you are treasured, valued, respected and honoured in the other, and they know the same. There is a simple unspoken knowing strengthened with time.

With most others, we trade our presence or absence, we come and go, they come and go into our lives, and there is always a sense of unease, the need to explain, the need to justify, the need to defend our motives and our integrity. Our space feels threatened all the time, our identity questioned, the harmony easily disturbed. The necessity to be understood and the pain of disconnect hovers ever-persistently fed by our fears and pain. The disenchantment with self and the disappointment with the other, it never actually goes away irrespective of the passage of time.

It is the saddest and most beautiful thing, this tapestry of relationships that we weave every day, weaving by the day and unraveling in the night
